Culturally Targeted Hiring Strategies Seminar

This (1/2 or 1 full day) intensive seminar is designed for Human Resource Professionals, Hiring Managers and Recruiters who have been charged with the responsibility of increasing the number of Latino, Asian and African Americans and female job candidates considered for their openings.

Participants acquire increased cultural knowledge and specific hiring strategies that allow them to approach the complex task of finding the best diverse candidates with renewed enthusiasm and increased comfort.

What you learn in this seminar:

  • Cultural factors that may impact your hiring process

  • How and where diverse candidates look for work — and how to use cultural factors to attract them.

  • How to read between the lines when reviewing resumes

  • How to develop rapport to successfully elicit key information during phone interviews

  • How to rephrase questions so candidates are comfortable sharing information

  • How to interview candidates whose primary language is not English

  • How to uncover accomplishments of candidates whose culture does not encourage self-promotion.

What you get:

  • A comprehensive course manual with background information, culturally-appropriate recruiting sources, techniques and exercises.

  • Opportunities to learn what has worked for other hiring professionals

  • A chance to practice new resume screening and interviewing techniques

--Participant Comment

This seminar can help your organization if:

  • You are not getting the number of resumes you need from diverse candidates

  • You are eliminating the majority of diverse candidates at the phone screening stage

  • Your diverse candidates appear weaker at the interview than their resumes would indicate

  • You have trouble eliciting specific accomplishments or examples of past behavior from diverse candidates

  • At the end of an interview, you often find that you do not have the information you need to make a decision.
